Daws Hall Nature Reserve, CO5 8EX

29th September

A gentle walk around our stunning nature reserve, as the sun sets. On the walk we will watch as the dark shadows of our resident bats swoop between the trees and along the water's edge to catch their evening insect-meal. Meanwhile with the use of ultrasound scanners, we will convert their clicks and calls to work out which species they are. Adults £10, Children £5

22nd - 29th September Join Stevens Funfair at Riverside Park in Burnham-on-Crouch this September for the classic funfair experience!

A three-day food spectacular with flavours from all around the world, tips on how to grow the tastiest ingredients, and cook-ups from chefs at RHS Garden Hyde Hall. Garden admission applies.

Wrap up warm, round up your friends and family and head on down to the seafront every Saturday night during October and November. Free

1st October

Bring your toddlers and babies to enjoy timeless jazz music that will have you toe tapping and your children swaying to the infectious melodies. Toddlers are free to roam and dance to the lively rhythms of the clarinet and saxophone. £15 per adult and includes two children free.

Burnham Carnival offers a fun day for all the family, with events starting at 10am and finishing with the grand illuminated procession from 7.30pm.

From 30th September - 9th October - With puppetry, songs and a great deal of silliness, this 45 minute show will have your little monsters howling with laughter and raring to go for Halloween festivities. (This show is silly not scary and is suitable for monsters of all ages). Adults £5, Children £8

1st October - An exterior tour of Colchester Castle is an opportunity to see the impressive medieval structure from the outside, learning about its history and architectural features. £10
