What's On at Essex Parks - May

Check out these events happening across parks, playgrounds and nature reserves this month. We have something for for adults, children and dog friendly Essex Events too.


Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park, Colchester, CO5 7DN

7th May - 10am to 12pm or 1pm to 3pm

Use hand tools to make things from green wood grown on the nature reserve. Try using a shave horse and other woodworking devices. Make toys, utensils, decorations, gifts and more at this Essex Wildlife Trust event.

Suitable for children aged 8+

RSPB Wallasea Island, Rochford SS4 2H

14th May 10.30am to 12.30pm

RSPB Guided walk to spot summer migrating birds. The walk is a gentle stroll with plenty of opportunities to use the leader's telescope for good views of wildlife.

26th May - 5.30pm to 8pm

Explore RHS Garden Hyde Hall as the gardens welcome visitors for a special Walkies at Hyde Hall evening for four-legged friend.

Lovingly restored fairground rides and attractions dating from the 1890s to the 1960s at this vintage funfair

Free entry to fair, buy tokens for rides

Free workshops and performances across the Essex Country Parks during May half term


28th May - 12pm to 2pm - Cudmore Grove, East Mersea, CO5 8UE

Tai Chi workshops and informal Chinese dance performances from the Colchester Chinese Culture Society


29th May - 12pm to 2pm - Danbury Country Park, Chelmsford, CM3 4AW

Take part in a range of colourful sessions such as cooking demonstrations, henna and silk painting led by the Essex Multicultural Activites Network.


30th May - 12pm to 2pm - Hadleigh Country Park, Benfleet, SS7 2PP

Discover free workshops and demonstrations of capoeira martial arts and samba drumming from BrazilArte Academy. Come and make some noise!


31st May - 12pm to 2pm - Wealf Country Park, Brentwood, CM14 5QS

Experience African drumming and dance workshops from the Efua Sey Cultural Academy at Weald Country Park in this satellite event.
